When traditional fashion fuses with contemporary style, beautiful things can happen. One of my favourite pieces is the kimono.
Last month I visited the fabulous Kimono, Kyoto to catwalk, exhibition at the V&A with my friend and fellow designer Basma from Basma Design.
I’ve always been a fan of kimonos and have included one in my wholesale Spring Summer 2021 collection at AQ Market, one that can be worn as a coat or a dress. The collection also includes Kimono sleeve tops that can be worn as a bolero or scarf.
Although literally kimono means “thing to wear”, it combines versatility, statement style, easy to wear, transeasonal and mixes them with the simplicity of a lightweight cover-up.
These versatile and stylish statement accessories are perfect for any wardrobe, set to transform your look with their timeless aesthetic.
These aren’t specifically for spring and summer, with a little creativity, and some layering, there is no reason why you can’t wear this top in the colder months.
I’m a firm believer in versatile items as they tend to be classic, you get more style with less and they become wardrobe essentials.
With the goal to get wear and value from what we buy, versatile items and the idea of buying one thing and having it transcend and be useful in many areas of your life, a wardrobe built on a streamlined selection of items makes day-to-day dressing infinitely easier.. and helps the environment and your pocket, as you’ll be buying less!
A Kimono Sleeve Top is an easy to wear, versatile and stylish addition to a wardrobe. These are created from pure silk in the UK, for the ultimate in glamorous dressing with on-trend kimono sleeves.
You can wear it as a flattering boxy top or bolero (just sling over your shoulders), or as a lavish silk scarf enveloping your neck or hair.
Typically, versatile fashion is classic and simple. The more simplistic the pieces are, the easier it is to style them in different ways.
