My statement on statement pieces
Posted on August 02 2017
No capsule wardrobe is complete without a few “statement pieces”, the kind guaranteed to garner compliments, and attract notice if you wear them two days in a row.
They are also a form of self-expression, just like the colours, they say something about you and can pull together a new look with what you already have in your cupboards. The addition of statement pieces, not only exudes a sense of style, but it also takes the look from plain to noteworthy, from drab to fab.
So is making a statement in what you wear important, especially if you aren’t a blogger leaving a fashion show with the hope of getting photographed? Yes, no matter what industry you work in and whether you care about clothes or not.
Clothes are a form of self-expression, and how we dress impacts how we feel about ourselves, and vice-versa. So, if adding something bold makes you feel better, then voila, proof that making a statement isn’t a shallow “look at me, look at me” concept.
Statement pieces define your personal style. They give an identity to your personal brand, they’ve maintained a staying power because of their ability to pull outfits together and are therefore well worth investing in!
