“Keep your face to the sunshine so that you cannot see a shadow”. Helen Keller
This wisdom inspired me to pursue the vision and purpose for my business, it inspired me to be determined and work hard to get through this uncertain time.
The last few months have not been easy, I didn’t expect them to be easy, so at the start of lockdown I made a pact with myself, I wanted to be able to look back on some positive progress. Now that we are stepping out of the shadows of quarantine and seeing little rays of sunshine, I’m glad to see a glimmer of progress on the horizon.
When you notice a sunbeam streaming through a window, you notice how the light changes the colours in the room and casts a shadow, which isn’t one dark blob of colour; it varies in shade.
Shades of distinction
During the last months, I’ve printed fabric and made bespoke lampshades and created prototype lamp-bases to wear these statement shades. The way I screen-print the fabric allows the light to artfully change the colours and shapes of the print, to uniquely transform a room.
My office and hallway are now lit up by the lamps I’ve been working on.
And then there is Dot, my mannequin, she also lights up my hallway.
Seen here wearing sun shades demonstrating how accessories can up your style, have the power to transform your look, by combining these two statement accessories (sunglasses and a silk scarf). Showing us ways in which to stand out, and channel that film star look.
Now that life is slowly getting back to a “new normal”, I have started to get busy working on a new-look website, creating new collections, preparing plans for the future, working on new events and designing new products.
From now onwards, I’ll be writing monthly updates in my blogs and via my newsletters in collaboration with Amanda from Thumbnail Media. Subscribe here to follow the progress and be the first to know about special offers.
